I have a confession.
I have favourite people at the studio.
You know, the ones. My faves are those people who show up every week.
They are not necessarily the front-rowers...or just the people who like to be anonymous at the back, or the middle of the room people. They are just there, somewhere.
They don't make excuses, they simply just show up.
Those people who walk in and quietly, smile and greet those they make eye contact with, then lay on their mat in preparation for practice.
They take care to freshen up and take their shoes off, honoring our space, they enter with reverence and respect for the others in the room.
There are no grand entrances, no one who announces "I'm here!"....rather people who walk in and smile softly, whilst there eyes say "oh, look who else is here - I'm glad 'they're' here today too".
Sometimes they have their 'issues' weighing heavily on their shoulders - they're only human too - but they are present.
They bring with them an energy, that I can feel from the front of the room, (even if my eyes are closed) almost like a fresh, gentle breeze blowing through the doors. This energy brings a lightness and a special feel to the room, and I can almost feel and touch the deep sense of the unspoken "ahhh I made it, this is my time now".
"They" are my favourites they are 'my kind of people' . I love being around my kind of people, and I instantly smile when 'they' show up, and feel blessed that they chose to take the time to be there at that moment.
So who are they? "They" ... Are not just a couple of people in class. "They" are everyone who ever passed through our doors.
EVERY. SINGLE. ONE OF YOU.
'They' who take time to care for themselves, honour their bodies, and strive for a healthy lifestyle.
'They' are YOU.
Thank YOU for bringing your amazing energies to our space. Collectively, you have created the atmosphere that is so unique and cherished so very much, by so many.
Oh, I know that you come to our space for you...but you may not realise how much it means to me too. After all, this has been my dream for a long time. And it's YOU, who creates this reality.
If you look up the meaning of the word Yoga, it means to unite. And it does.
When we are in our shared space it feels sacred, does it not? This feeling of unity is the culmination of your willingness to be present, let go and just breathe for a while with no pressures, expectations or judgement.
For this, thank you. You're my favourites!
I hope to see my faves on the mat again next week.
Namaste - the light in me honours the light in you
